Shipping History
The nations of the East, due to their antiquity, have valuable treasures of human civilization, and the city is considered as one of these works and in fact the cradle of various works of civilization in these societies. Iran has not been without these works due to its long history of civilization. Road construction has always been a necessity among Iranians, both in ancient times and in later periods. Accordingly, the reasons for the tendency of Iranians to build and consequently develop and increase their skills in this sector should be considered to a large extent due to the conditions and characteristics of the land of Iran.
Aspects of transportation
The field of transportation has various aspects: in a general classification, it can be divided into three sections: infrastructure, vehicles and operation. Infrastructure includes transportation networks (roads, railways, airways, waterways, material pipelines, etc.) used as well as nodes or terminals (such as airports, railway stations, Bus stations, ports Vehicles generally travel on networks, such as cars, trains and airplanes.
Shipping modes
Modes are a combination of networks, vehicles, and operations, and include walking, car / highway, rail, and sea transportation (ships, waterways, and air traffic control).
Transportation
The first mode of transportation used in the world was road transport, which was performed by animals. Over time, people have used large chariots for their land transportation, and this method has become commonplace. Over time, as trade grew around the world, shipping began to work.
Yachts were originally used for maritime transport, but over time, with the invention of steam power as well as coal, steamships were built and used. Later, using the same steam and coal power, rail transportation began its work. With the discovery of fossil fuels, various ships with diesel fuel as well as diesel engines were used. After that, planes, balloons and other means of transportation were used for military, travel, commercial and other purposes. In general, we must say that the subject of transportation is so broad that we have to write several different books to define it from the past to the present.
History of transportation in Iran
Our country has a very ancient civilization. Due to this issue, it has a very long and brilliant history in the field of road establishment, transportation, freight and other such matters. Transportation in Iran has existed continuously since ancient times. Therefore, the characteristics and conditions of our country can be said to be the main reason for Iranians to build roads and increase their skills in this field.
It is interesting to know that the Iranians were active in the field of building ships and sailing in 700 BC, and this was the reason why the Iranians ruled the surrounding seas for centuries. The geographical location, the civilization of the Iranians and the good relations of the Iranians with Egypt and the nations of the Middle East caused the land and sea transportation to flourish in Iran from that time. Before that, road transport was done by city to city in our country.
Transportation progress in Iran
Over time, during the Parthian period, transportation companies and freight systems became more serious and, in fact, more widespread than before. During the Sassanid period, the subject of trade and transportation developed to the point that transportation, as well as international trade, became very important. It was during the Sassanid era that transportation and trade between Iran and European and African countries began.
During the 18th and 19th centuries, changes brought about by the technical perfection of vehicles created a great deal of impetus for fundamental changes in transportation systems. Due to this, the speed as well as the efficiency of transportation services were greatly increased.
In the meantime, with the Industrial Revolution and the great advances in the field of transportation technology in the world, Iran, which was often considered one of the best roads in the world along the Silk Road and carried the title of International Prince, did its international trade. Maydad became one of the first countries in the world to make a good profit by using transportation. Later, Iran was able to achieve great success in the field of transportation by using sea, air and rail methods. The history of transportation in Iran in general has been brilliant.
Establishment of transportation office in Iran
The use of buses for transportation, although it greatly increased the speed and rate of transportation, also had problems and caused people to express their dissatisfaction. With this in mind, the rulers of the time in 1298 AD decided to make laws to make better use of the bus. Hence, an office was established with the aim of managing transportation affairs.
After the establishment of this office, many problems of the people were solved. The best services provided by this office include determining the working hours of buses, determining the cost of rent, issuing identification plates for all buses, and also creating disciplinary regulations. Over time, the number of active bus lines increased.
In 1320, the number of buses in the capital that were active in the field of passenger transportation reached 100. In 1331, the government, by bringing private companies into the road transport system, decided to attract more investors to the system and be able to generate revenue in this way. The establishment of the Department of Transportation is one of the most important events in the history of transportation in Iran.
